Autumn Term Courses: Drawing, Painting & Crafts

Learn how to use pastels, either chalk or oil-based. Claire will demonstrate both how to use pastels, and the different effects achieved. This course will cover core skills such as tone, contrast, colour theory and observation. This is for all abilities as Claire concentrates on developing each individual's skill.

This comprehensive painting course will demonstrate and teach how to use oil, acrylic and watercolour. Each student will choose what medium they want to work in and what they want to paint. This course will cover core skills such as tone, contrast, colour theory and observation. This is for all abilities as Claire concentrates on developing each individual's skill.

Using an original and unique method, this short and structured course is aimed at ensuring that the complete beginner will gain the necessary confidence and ability to start and, most importantly, continue drawing. Subjects covered during the curse will include how to draw people and places, objects and the natural world. Materials required: 2B, 3B, 9B pencils; charcoal pencil, plastic eraser, sharpener and A3 drawing pad (preferably a pad of Arboreta Paper, available from Guildford Art Centre in Quarry Street).

A day of printmaking, focusing on making cards and crafts for Christmas. We will make our own rubber stamp prints, perfect for making multiple cards and use relief prints to create sheets of wrapping paper. We will also be having a go at embossing techniques and lino cuts.

Please bring along Christmas images that you would like to work from. You will make wrapping paper on thin newsprint but do bring your own paper if you would like to decorate it, although you will take away your own stamp to use at home. The cost of basic material is included in the fee. A small supplement may be charged by Tozzy on the day if you would like to use additional material.

This fun festive workshop will include how to make Christmas tags, cards, gift boxes and baubles for the tree. This will be perfect for making personalised gifts extremely cost effectively! This is for all abilities, as Claire will demonstrate techniques and show each individual how to achieve their aims.
