Landscape and History in the British Regions: The Lake District GI-08-042
Terry Hewitt BA, MEd Tuesday 13 January to 3 February
4 meetings 2.00pm to 4.00pm £40, Concessions £36

Britain's complex geology and history has produced many distinctive regions often unfamiliar to the modern traveller. The course aims to identify and explain the character of a selection of these regions to enhance understanding of the fascinating human and physical landscape that we have inherited. The compact region of the Lake District has been selected to initiate the sequence. This course looks at how we obtain some of the essential natural resources we rely on for energy, manufacturing and construction. It also considers the environmental implications associated with their use and disposal.
