Special Collections > Local Studies > Photograph CollectionAbout the photographic collectionThe collection has been assembled over the years by members and officers of the Guildford Institute. They have been sorted into broad categories as shown below. Unfortunately some have been lost over time and some are not in good condition. Over the next few months we will, where possible, publish previews of the photographs. How to use this indexIf you are browsing through the photo pages, each page contains a list of the contents of each storage box. Where there are gaps in the numbers, these photos are missing from our collection. There are 38 boxes of illustrations. We are adding preview pages to the photo indexes and hope to finish by the end of 2010. Where there is a preview and you wish to see one of the photos, click on its title and a small preview will open in a new browser window. By each link is an indication of the preview file size and, as a guide, the estimated download time if you use a dial-up connection and your modem is working at full speed. If you use broadband the download time will be much quicker. Close the window to return to this page. The original illustrations are often better quality and usually larger images. Remember that many of the images are old and some are damaged, so even the the quality of the original may not be good. If you wish to see an original you can make an appointment to view it at the Institute Library. You can contact us by phone on 01483 562142 or by e-mail at library@guildford-institute.org.uk. Please note that t here is a research charge for viewing the original. N.B. Please remember that all these illustrations are copyright. |
