GI Governance: Recruitment

Assistant Manager, Full Time: Up to £21,000 pa

This is a new, interesting and varied post in the small, friendly staff team of the Guildford Institute – an educational, community charity based in Guildford town centre.

The post-holder will have particular responsibility for co-ordinating a number of areas of the Institute’s activities including:

  • Planning a schedule of talks, lectures and special events including visits & trips
  • Institute publicity including display posters and scheduling exhibitions for our small gallery space
  • Membership communication including email and published newsletters
  • Managing a small volunteer team providing reception cover
  • Building and maintaining links with other community and charitable organisations, local clubs and societies etc.
  • Updating the website and our social network presence
  • Drawing together the content for the tri-annual brochure
  • Maintaining and developing a database

They will also need to work well as part of the team and provide general administrative support.

Along with relevant experience, perhaps in PR or a membership role, you will need excellent organisational, customer service and communication skills, an ability to relate well to a broad range of people, and a high standard of literacy, numeracy and computer skills including experience with Excel, Access and website design software.

A flexible, adaptable approach is essential including the necessity to work occasional
evenings and Saturdays.
