Drawing on original records as well as new genealogical and archaeological research, we will re-examine the lives of the people of Africa and the Caribbean who came to the British Isles. From the Roman times to the present day, we will study the lives of Roman soldiers such as the Aurelian Moors, Africans who served on the Mary Rose, black Britons who became radical intellectuals and those who served at Trafalgar or during both World Wars.
