4 February 2020 @ 11:15 am - 4:00 pm GMT
Meet outside the British Library at 11.15am and the Wellcome Collection at 2.15pm.
Our visit will begin with an Introduction to the Treasures of the British Library. This 60-minute private guided tour introduces you to some of the most iconic items held within the British Library collections. Find out more about the King’s Library and the Klencke Atlas, the second-largest atlas in the world. Your guide will introduce you to some of their favourite items in the Sir John Ritblat Gallery, where over 200 of the Library’s greatest treasures are displayed. After the tour you will have free time to explore more of the Library’s exhibitions and enjoy lunch at one of the cafés or restaurants.
We will then take a short walk to the Wellcome Collection. The museum and library pay homage to pharmacist, entrepreneur, philanthropist and collector Sir Henry Wellcome and aims to challenge how we think and feel about health. A 30-minute guided tour will introduce you to some of the fascinating objects collected by Wellcome. The Medicine Man exhibition features items such as Charles Darwin’s walking stick and Florence Nightingale’s moccasins.
