This course will study poems by one of the finest poets of the Victorian era. Rossetti’s poetry ranges from fairy-tale narratives and devotional reflections, to love celebrated and lamented. We will explore how, underneath the innovative and beautiful poetic forms, issues of religion and gender are foregrounded by Rossetti. The poems can be found on Poetry Foundation or in the Penguin Classics edition Selected Poems: Christina Rossetti.
