Our ancestors shared the norms, values, traditions, and customs of their peers. What happened in a community when a child was born out of wedlock? Who went to the theatre, music hall or smoking concerts? How was a period of mourning observed? What part did superstitions play in everyday life? Using case studies, we examine these and many more habits and practices in our own family history.
