Lorimer Burn, now retired, has been a pilot all his life. His career began in 1967 in the Royal Navy as a helicopter pilot, flying from the decks of frigates and destroyers all around the world. He later converted to flying fixed wing planes and joined the airline British Midland, flying first the Boeing 737, and then the Airbus A320 series around the UK and Europe. What does it take to get an airliner ready for flight and what do all those instruments tell us? Lorimer’s media-rich presentation will look at the role of Air Traffic Control, and the operation of an Airbus A320from Heathrow to Edinburgh.
