Guildford Arts Exhibition: Botanicals & Landscapes
24 June 2022 @ 9:30 am - 25 July 2022 @ 5:00 pm BST
The Guildford Institute and Guildford Arts are pleased to display the work of talented local artists Tim Burns and Shirley Hampson. Please do make a visit to the Institute on Ward Street, enjoy a coffee in the V Cafe (open 9am-3pm, Tuesday to Friday, although the room can be visited outside of these hours) and take a look at this colourful exhibition.
Tim Burns – Painter
Since Tim took early retirement from teaching in 2013 he have been working on marine landscape and related still-life subjects often bringing both elements together in one painting. His work reflects the world around him, whether it be the places he visits, the contents of his fruit bowl, his ceramics collection or bits and pieces from the beach or garden. Each painting reflects an aspect of his world and many of them have their own story to tell.
More recently Tim has returned to the human figure for inspiration.
Shirley Hampson – Botanical Artist
Shirley loves the medium of watercolour and growing plants to paint or finding subjects in the wild on dog walks. She decided to take up the challenge of painting flowers and for guidance did the Society of Botanical Artists ‘ distance learning course, she also attends a weekly art group with a model and tutor and whether the subject is a plant or model finds it requires the same visual observation and feels stimulated by exhibiting and attending workshops.
V Café at The Guildford Institute provides a friendly catering service using high quality, fresh, vegetarian and vegan ingredients.
The perfect way to give a treat to someone special who takes real pleasure in learning new things and taking part in great activities.
