Overview

The greatest days of Italian art had passed by the eighteenth centuryHowever, local patrons and tourists (partly drawn by past glories) still supported interesting painters in Rome, Naples, and the party city of Venice. In this richly illustrated course, we will study Tiepolo’s decorative paintings, Canaletto and Gaurdi’s Venetian scenes and the spectacular Grand Tour portraits of Pompeo Batoni.
