We see Constable as the quintessential painter of the English Landscape. Explore his steady climb to mastery, fuelled by his love of his native Suffolk countryside. Towards the end of his life, personal tragedy brings a deeper note to his work. His vision was slow to be recognised – we will also examine how he became Britain’s best-loved painter.
