Overview

Due to logistic issues this event will take place at the Guildford Institute, Ward Street, GU1 4LH, instead of St Mary's Church, as originally advertised. Apologies for any inconvenience.

DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS THIS COURSE HAS SADLY BEEN CANCELLED

During this session, Graham will introduce three short concerts he will give on Saturday 18 April, the first National Organ Day, using neo-classical organs near the Pilgrim’s Way. He will explain how these instruments, returning to the construction and aesthetics of Bach’s day, differ from the Victorians’ feats of engineering. He will also use his recent experience playing historic organs of Bach’s homeland to shed light on the complex works of Bach’s maturity included in the concerts. See page 31 for details of Graham Thorp’s Wednesday talk.
