Tutor: Graham Thorp
Go to all Courses Go to all Spring Term 2020Overview
During this session at St Mary’s Church, Guildford, Graham will introduce three
short concerts he will give on Saturday 18 April, the first National Organ Day, using neo-classical organs near the Pilgrim’s Way. He will explain how these instruments, returning to the construction and aesthetics of Bach’s day, differ from the Victorians’ feats of engineering. He will also use his recent experience playing historic organs of Bach’s homeland to shed light on the complex works of Bach’s maturity included in the concerts, performing brief excerpts on St Mary’s organ. Please note that the venue for this session is St Mary’s Church, Guildford. See page 31 for details of Graham Thorp’s
Wednesday talk.
