Overview
Photographically detailed landscape backgrounds were important in Millais and Holman Hunt’s early pre-Raphaelite work, and Ruskin influenced the movement’s landscape followers including Brett, Boyce & Inchbold. This course, on British landscape art c.1840-70 also explores early Victorians like Creswick, the discovery of the early Surrey landscape and the 1860s poetic images of Mason & Walker.
