To celebrate Wimbledon tennis season join us for Pimms and strawberries along with a talk from former Wimbledon Umpire, Alan Gray. Born and educated in Scotland, Alan's ‘obsession’ with tennis started in
1955 when he watched Hoad, Rosewell, Gonzallez and Sedgeman play at Dundee ice rink.
He umpired and line judged at Wimbledon from 1988 for 25 years. During that time, he officiated at six finals including Becker v Sampras and Agassi v Ivanisovic. Alan will give an irreverent and personal ‘take’ on his vast years of officiating. Including grunting, hawk-eye, Boris Becker’s toilet visit and the day the Queen came to Wimbledon!
