In 1977, Doug Scott became Operations Manager for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Built to transport oil from Prudhoe Bay, on the Arctic Ocean to Valdez on the Pacific Ocean, covering a distance of 800 miles.

Doug’s fascinating story includes, the discovery of oil at Prudhoe Bay, the construction of the Pipeline, the first oil and the operation of the Pipeline, including major incidents, such as the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. He will also describe relocating his family from Wales to Alaska, with just 60 frost-free days a year, 30 feet of snow and a 300-mile drive to the shops and the nearest doctor.
