This course will address the changes to social conditions and the use of leisure time as society became increasingly industrialised during the Victorian era. We will examine the work of significant reformers including Lord Shaftesbury, Caroline Norton and Josephine Butler. The course will also be richly illustrated with works by artists such as G. F. Watts, William Holman Hunt and William Powell Frith, who were increasingly aware of the social conditions of their time.

Please note: this face to face class currently has a capacity of 25 students. We have endeavoured to review this number in line with the lifting of Government restrictions.
