The Victorians at Work and Play – GI 21 012 (Face to Face)
10 August 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm BST
Tutor: Daphne Jefferis BA (Hons) PGCEA & Jenny Frendo BAGo to all Courses
This course will address the changes to social conditions and the use of leisure time as society became increasingly industrialised during the Victorian era. We will examine the work of significant reformers including Lord Shaftesbury, Caroline Norton and Josephine Butler. The course will also be richly illustrated with works by artists such as G. F. Watts, William Holman Hunt and William Powell Frith, who were increasingly aware of the social conditions of their time.
Please note: Due to social distancing measures, face to face classes currently have a capacity of 12 students. We will endeavor to review this number in line with the lifting of Government restrictions.
