When did we start to put on the kettle to cope in a crisis? What was the Tudor equivalent of ‘putting the bins out’? What did our ancestors call home? In this course, we will examine the fundamental elements of our ancestors’ homes. Covering the Roman period to the present day, we will consider everything from the materials, design, function and evolution of the home, to the human relationship with domestic space.
