Visit – Make Your Own Way
St Michael’s Abbey is a monastery and imperial mausoleum based in Farnborough and is best known
as the resting place of the last Bonaparte Emperor, Napolean III.
The Abbey has a fascinating history dating back to its creation by Empress Eugénie after the loss of
her husband Napolean III, and her son in the Zulu War in 1881, and as a base of Benedictine life since 1895.
The Farnborough monks follow a monastic life whilst also operating a farm, apiary, book bindery, and a printing and publishing house.
