Wakehurst has been managed and funded by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew since 1965. Situated on the High Weald of West Sussex, this wild botanic garden has over 500 acres of beautiful ornamental gardens, woodlands and a nature reserve to explore. The site is also home to the Millennium Seed Bank, the largest wild seed conservation project in the world.
We will begin our visit with a 75-minute private tour of the gardens. A volunteer guide will highlight the seasonal plants of interest and we’ll discover the estate’s history. After the tour, you will then have free time to enjoy lunch (café and restaurant available) and plan the remainder of your visit. Discover the Elizabethan Mansion, which is nestled between formal and informal borders, a sweeping lawn, a pond and a walled garden or visit the Millennium Seed Bank and find out more about its vital mission to conserve 25% of the world’s plant species by 2020.
Coach departs Guildford North Street at 10am and Wakehurst at 3.30pm.
