Window on the World: The QE2 Story – T280 (Face to Face and Online)
18 May 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm BST
Overview
Enjoy the story of the iconic liner Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) from launch until her departure to Dubai in 2008.
Steve Herra served aboard the QE2 as a purser (later joining the Royal Naval Reserve) and he will recount events occurring during the life of this well-known ship, including her service during the Falklands War.
The talk will answer questions such as: During the build stage of QE2 which items did one shipyard worker remove from the ship and take home?
Did the Queen name the ship correctly?
Who ordered QE2 to be sunk by torpedo in 1973?
And what was the name of the unlikely stowaway in 1982?
