Peter Hoar

Sir Barnes Wallis was an English engineer and inventor at the forefront of aviation progress. Best known for the bouncing bomb used in WWII but also other successful projects including the R100 airship, cargo submarines, swing winged aircraft, hypersonic airliners and earthquake bombs among them.

Peter is a pilot, joining Flight Test at Wisley in 1967, and had the good fortune to meet Barnes Wallis on several occasions. He will tell us more about the life, career and inventions of Barnes Wallis and his links with Surrey.
