SUMMARY:Jan Van Eyck: The Real Idea (also Online) - GI 26 076
DESCRIPTION:When we look at a painting by Jan van Eyck\, we are taken back to early 15th century Flanders\, a world of faith and symbolism which can seem remote from us. We are drawn in by the fabulous rendering of the visual world but behind it are a web of comments on his society and the characters inhabiting it which can still resonate for us today.
