Course Participant

Explore fifteenth century Flemish art, rich in religious symbolism and domestic detail. Oil painting facilitated a revolutionary realism, comparable to developments in early Renaissance Italy, but with significant differences, which we shall examine. Key artists include Jan Van Eyck, Rogier Van der Weyden, Dirk Bouts, Hans Memling and Gerard David.
