"Informative and accessible style of delivery. Easy to follow and understand."

Course Participant

From Artemisia Gentileschi to Judith Leyster, Sofonisba Anguissola to Cindy Sherman, Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun to Sarah Lucas and many more, the unusual freedom offered by the dual role of subject and creator has allowed women artists to represent themselves in their own terms in representational, abstract or symbolic depictions. Image, identity and gender will be considered within social context and the historical period.
The course will run at the same time as the Gauguin Portraits exhibition at the National Gallery, London - 7 October 2019 – 26 January 2019.
