Course Participant

Following on from the stimulating 2018 exhibition Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, we shall consider the fascinating works by this iconic artist. Born in Mexico, Kahlo’s art reflects her native country’s popular culture. Her images contain autobiographical elements of a life often spent enduring physical pain and suffering. Kahlo once stated: ‘I was considered a Surrealist. That’s not right. I’ve never painted dreams. What I showed was my reality.’ This course aims to reflect the unique place that Frida Kahlo occupies in art history.
