Staffing Update; Vicky Pursey returns from maternity leave
Hi! For those of you who don’t already know me, my name is Vicky Pursey and on the 4th June I returned back to work at The Guildford Institute after a long period of maternity leave.
I originally started work for The Guildford Institute in February 2016, full-time as their Membership and Marketing Assistant, a role which I really enjoyed, in particular arranging the Wednesday talk programme. I am very lucky to have been able to return to work on a part-time basis, 2 days per-week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), allowing me to have the best of both worlds and giving me plenty of precious time with my daughter India whist she is still young.
I am very excited to have taken on a new role of Volunteer and Projects Assistant. Another aspect of my previous role that I particularly enjoyed was working alongside our team of volunteers- so I am really pleased that I will continue to work with them in my new role. Over thirty people kindly volunteer for the Institute on a weekly basis, and our team of volunteers do an enormous amount of work and really are so valuable to the Institute. I will be helping Amy Mason (Membership and Events Assistant) to provide training, support and guidance to these important individuals.
In my new role, I will also be working on various projects that will stem from the Institute’s Strategic Plan, which is formulated by the Board of Trustees alongside the Institute Manager Amy Rice. This provides a framework of activities that aim to continue to improve the Institute’s offer. I have already enjoyed being part of putting together and collating some of the content for the new website and database and look forward to many more future projects.
Lastly, I will also be helping with the Institute’s financial recording processes; producing monthly invoices and assisting with month-end activities.
I am very much enjoying being part of the Institute once again, so much has changed in the time I have been away and its lovely to see how many improvements have been made in many different areas.
I feel very fortunate to work with a small and very friendly staff team and I look forward to catching up with lots of our members, course attendees, tutors and other familiar faces over the next few months!
