Colin enjoys walking and gardening and even makes his own preserves. The Guildford Institute staff are quite enthusiastic about his blackcurrant and raspberry jams! Colin volunteers elsewhere and has used the design he created for The Guildford Institute databases to help other charities. Colin is also an events organiser for a local social club.
Colin and his late wife Wendy had been active members of The Guildford Institute for a long time and so kindly offered their help during the financial crisis facing The Guildford Institute in 2008, after its divorce from the University of Surrey. Upon starting volunteering on reception at The Guildford Institute in 2008, Colin found that data relating to membership and other matters was unnecessarily duplicated. He designed new databases to unify record keeping and to make it easier to access and update members’ records and to improve communications.
Colin enjoys volunteering on reception because of the social aspect, he meets so many friends and old acquaintances.
