When Geoff went to university to study chemistry the last thing he intended to do, with both parents being teachers, was teach. However, on graduating he had enjoyed student life so much that he wanted to stay on; the only way he could find to do this was post-graduate teacher training. Having done that he thought he ought to at least give teaching a try…
30-odd years later he was Head of Faculty in a further education college in London.
He then did a variety of part-time and temporary jobs. His last one, and one of the most enjoyable ones, was as a tutor with the Open University. So, having been involved in courses for adults, the Institute seemed a good place to volunteer.
Geoff also enjoys singing with Guildford Vox Community Choir (which started at the Institute), attending the Folk Club (at the Institute), the U3A, and Classical, World and Folk concerts locally and in London. And being a grandfather to his 3 year old grandson!
