Sandra Robinson now Trustee, recently stepped down from the position of Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of The Guildford Institute after three and a half years. She originally became a Trustee in 2014 after a 30 year career as a practitioner and a senior manager, firstly in Childcare and later the Social Care sector. From 1998, she worked as a consultant in care for older people to Health and Social Care commissioners and providers across the UK. In the early 1970’s she lived and studied for 5 years in Africa and Europe with her husband and young family.
Sandra has served on various charity and public sector boards over the past 20 years. These have included the boards of Age Concern Surrey; Guildford College of Further and Higher Education for 9 years, as Vice Chair and Chairperson for 3 and 4 years respectively. During this period, she led mergers of the College with Merrist Wood and Farnham Sixth Form College. She is a former Vice Chairperson of one of the UK's larger social enterprises and largest eldercare providers, Housing & Care 21, during the period when it made corporate history by becoming the first-ever not-for-profit organisation successfully to acquire a publicly quoted group of companies.
Her personal interests, apart from her commitment to lifelong learning, include a passion for travel and gardening, the arts and more recently, playing bridge.
