Guildford Arts Exhibition – Susi Alcock & Ros Flanders
11 August 2025 @ 9:30 am - 22 September 2025 @ 5:00 pm BST
Overview
The Guildford Institute and Guildford Arts are pleased to present the work of local artists, Susi Alcock and Ros Flanders.
Susi Alcock, Printmaker
Although creative all her life Susi does not come from a professional art background. She is a self-directed printmaker who started printmaking about 10 years ago when she produced her first lino cut and fell in love with printing. Susi’s subjects are based on something connected to her, either in her home and garden or on forays out on walks or holidays. She hovers between representational and abstracted images – also part of her journey of experimentation. She takes notes of interesting or humorous compositions or juxtapositions, and, always, patterns and textures.
Ros Flanders, Painter
Ros specialised in ceramics at art college and began a career teaching art in 1995. She has taught school children aged 3 to 18 with an infectious enthusiasm in a wide range of materials and processes. After completing two online courses in 2021, she returned to exploring her own artistic expression again. She found a particular passion for colour and pattern which combined with her early love of form and texture. Her still life images are a playful celebration of the domestic setting and are influenced by artists as diverse as Ben Nicholson and Michael Craig Martin.
