Overview

Since the days when Jesus walked the paths across Galilee and Judea, the Christian Church has been deeply divided about the fundamental human topics of love and sex. This course will seek to both chart the changes in attitudes across the past 2000 years and explore the reasons for it.

This course will look at the Latin church and the prevailing views at four points in the church’s history.

  • Roman and Jewish sexual practice at the time of Jesus
  • The Growth of Misogyny over the first centuries
  • The Gregorian Reformation of the 11th Century
  • The Protestant Reformation
