Overview

Vigée Le Brun enjoyed a rapid rise to fame. She was painting portraits of French aristocracy from 15 years old, the favourite painter of Marie Antoinette in her 20s and fleeing the French Revolution and painting in England by her 30s. This short course will follow her journey to fame and success negotiating Queenship, Identity and Politics through her portraits of Marie Antoinette and others, before and after the Revolution.
