Make Your Own Way Visit
On the periphery of Guildford, the Guildford Union Workhouse still stands; built in 1838 as a result of the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834. It housed the
forgotten classes of Edwardian England – the poor, the infirm, the ill, and the destitute.
Join a private tour (two separate groups), explore the lives of the Spike inmates and experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a Casual’s Ward. A cream tea (included in the cost) awaits you at the end of the tour.
