Profile

Mark has worked for The Guildford Institute for more than 30 years and is the longest serving member of the team. Mark started working for The Institute in 1989 and worked full-time until July 2008 when he was made redundant after the University of Surrey separated from The Guildford Institute. However, Mark came back immediately as a casual employee and he now works as The Institute’s Steward on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and alternate Saturdays. Mark is responsible for meeting and greeting Institute users and preparing the meeting rooms for evening classes and events, ensuring the room layouts are correct. Mark also serves drinks on The Institute bar as well as securing and locking up the building at the end of his shift. Mark enjoys working with the staff at The Institute, as well as meeting lots of people in the evenings. He enjoys serving on the bar and he has made a number of friends along the way. He also finds it interesting working in a historic building with lots going on.
