Overview

Britain’s population was left scarred by experiences of lives lost and financial hardship during the Napoleonic wars. Fear of invasion was widespread in the early stages of the wars, and collapsing banks, high taxes and worries over trade led to distress for many. Repressive laws were enacted leading to a growth in radicalism. This course will examine the impact and the legacy of these conflicts.
