Here is what happens when a place like The GI exists in the heart of a community...

We’re a charity, and so generating income is obviously really important.

But we’re also about people and our community.

And where we can, we want our building to be a place where people can enjoy free events and activities too.

That’s why we’re delighted to be hosting the very first Guildford Makers Exchange here at The GI this October.

It’s a free arts and crafts morning all about making, sharing and meeting people. And we love that it has grown from a group of brilliant women who met through Stitch & Sip here at The GI.

🎥 We’ve had a chat with Nami about the Makers Exchange and how it all came about. It’s an informal video, so dip in if you’d like to hear more about the event and the people behind it.

THE GUILDFORD MAKERS EXCHANGE 🧶

You don’t need to be an artist.
You don’t need to be an experienced maker.
You don’t need to know anyone.

Bring a project. Have a go. Meet some people. Or just come along and join in.
There’ll also be demonstrations from local makers, so you can watch, learn and have a go if you fancy it.

🎶 The GI Music Lounge A huge shout-out to profess 🎶 The GI Music Lounge

A huge shout-out to professional photographer Chris Nevard for brilliantly capturing what The GI Music Lounge is all about.

An intimate live music experience in the heart of Guildford, where you really do feel closer to the music, the musicians and the atmosphere.

And what a superb evening of live jazz last night! Just wonderful.

A big thank you to the Vic Cracknell Jazz Quartet with Duncan Lamont Jr for giving us such a fantastic night of music, dancing and good vibes.

And of course, a special thank you to our GI Music Lounge volunteers and the GI team for all their hard work behind the scenes to help make the evening so special.

These are the evenings that remind you just how brilliant live music can be!

Here’s a little look at the night through Chris’s lens.
Thank you, Chris, for letting us share your photos- we’re so grateful!
