Explore the Christmas story in art from medieval times to the twentieth century. Featured artists will include Fra Angelico, Campin, Vander Goes, Botticelli, Breughel, Rembrandt, Rossetti, Burne-Jones and many others in this richly illustrated course. Painters draw on the Bible, but also Christian legend and changing theological ideas. We will also consider secular depictions of Christmas and New Year customs and festivities.
