Talk by Helen Naylor

Wren’s world-class legacy was formed against a backdrop of civil war, political and religious upheaval. A founding member of the Royal Society, his impactful scientific and mathematical ideas and inventions are lesser known, compared to the genius of his architecture. Wren designed a stunning collection of churches, hospitals, libraries, mansions and palaces. His masterpiece, St Paul’s Cathedral, was an engineering and design triumph that took 35 years to complete. Buried there, the inscription on his tomb speaks for itself: ‘If you would seek a monument, look around you’.

We believe everyone should have access to educational and cultural opportunities, and that no one should be excluded because of their financial circumstances.
