Overview

Elizabeth Gaskell gives us a fascinating and unique insight into life in mid-19th century Britain in her popular novels. We will delve into the history behind her work with themes ranging from industrial life to the rigid social conventions of middle-class life, and the restrictions placed on women as they struggled for financial stability and independence.

No prior knowledge of Mrs. Gaskell’s work is required.
