“The Eagle has landed”. With the landing Armstrong and Aldrin and the safe return of the Apollo 11 crew (including Collins), Kennedy’s legacy had been fulfilled. Apollo 11 was watched by the world, but Apollo 12 seemed more-of-the-same and by Apollo 13 few were interested – until disaster struck! The safe return of Lovell, Swigert and Haise was an engineering miracle.
