Probably the foremost Edwardian garden designer, Sir Edwin Lutyens’s designs had a lasting impact on the residential garden style – formal with strong, clean lines, unfussy, often mirroring the design of the house. As a boy he lived between London and Thursley, in Surrey. Lutyens was mentored by Gertrude Jekyll and subsequently formed a close partnership with her that lasted over forty years. The focus of this talk will be on his life and his garden designs.
