Overview

Increasing populations and the sprawl of London led to extensive 20th century Surrey building. Municipal buildings from grand Edwardian town halls to less distinguished civic centres followed local government reorganisations. We study the Surrey suburb, also ground-breaking individual homes including Oliver Hill’s Joldwynds and Patrick Gwynne’s The Homewood. Ecclesiastical architecture includes Guildford Cathedral, and nonconformist and Catholic churches in modern styles.
